Easter Butterfly Appetizers

Hello my dear friends!

It’s been a while! Life has been quite busy lately in the best way possible, but I’m glad to be back blogging fun, kid-friendly snacks and meals for your family to enjoy.

Easter is approaching next month, and I wanted to share a wonderful appetizer that your littles will enjoy. These are quite easy to make, and you can use any spread you desire, like almond butter, hazelnut butter, cream cheese, or a veggie spread.

All you do is apply the spread to crackers, prepare your celery (make sure the celery is wide so the pretzels fit), apply spread to the celery, and add the pretzels! Super easy, right? Super tasty as well!

I added bunny grahams from Annie’s to my bunny tray you can purchase from Target.

I hope your littles enjoy this snack! Until next time!

Homemade Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal

Hello, friends! Today on the blog I’m sharing a recipe that was on my list of “from scratch” recipes to make. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is one of my husband’s favorite cereals, and I wanted to find a way to make a slightly healthier version, that’s our family will still love.

It came out perfect, and had our home smelling like cinnamon sugar goodness!

Serve with milk, use as a yogurt or ice cream topping, or by the hand! We used Malk unsweetened almond milk (my favorite!).

The recipe card is below, and I hope you enjoy!

Best Lunch Meats for Kids

Hello, EKF Family!

If you’ve walked inside a grocery store and made your way to the lunch meat section, you may have felt overwhelmed with way too many options. Yes, we’ve all been there! I want to make your next shopping trip a little easier with my list of the best lunch meat brands (plant-based included), for your little one. Keep in mind, you always, always want to turn the product around and read the ingredients. Don’t fall for the sexy packaging. Some harmful ingredients to look out for:

Caramel Coloring - A common ingredient in colas and other dark soft drinks, and typically used by some brands to make deli meat look “oven-roasted” along the edges. Also a known carcinogen.

Carrageenan - An emulsifier bad for gut flora, and can cause gastrointestinal issues. Also widely used as a thickener and gelling agent in coffee creamers.

Maltodextrin - Food preservative that is also bad for gut flora.

Yeast Extract - A form of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), which is an additive flavor enhancer.

Sodium Phosphate - Harmful preservative.

I want to make sure you give your little one the best ingredients, so feel free to save my graphic, bookmark this post, and share with your community!

Happy Shopping!

Top Snack Brands Part One - Back to School

Hello, Every Kid Fed Family!

School is right around the corner for your little one, and I want to make sure you have the resources to help successfully navigate you while shopping. There will be a part two with more brands and different categories. It’s important to make sure your child is getting an adequate amount of water, whole grains, healthy fats, carbohydrates, protein, and other vitamins and minerals. Planning meals is a fantastic way to start!

Meal Planning:

In my opinion, planning meals and menus ahead assures:

  • a stress free meal

  • nutritious meal

  • saves time and money

  • involves the family

Shopping Tips:

  • use a shopping list

  • compare prices

  • use coupons and in-store promotions

  • always look at food labels for serving sizes, sugar content and watch out for harmful ingredients. I will create a food label guide in a future post for parents!
